Playlist from the Sky Lounge

I've had some nice opportunities to play music while I've been in residence at the "sky lounge". My musical friends and family have visited and shared some songs over the last couple weeks. I thought I'd pull together - my best recollection anyway - of what we played.

  1. Hello Mark from Windsor Vermont where Eric, Dia and I have been enjoying updating ourselves on your wonderful blog. I very much missed the day you didn't post....so thank for resuming! We just listened to and watched the video of Tom Waits' "Hold On" and also the Richie Havens "Wonder Child" together. It's a beautiful sunny morning here, and we 3 are sending love to you.

  2. Hi Mark,

Thanks for the playlist. I'm a fan of Delbert McClinton, but I'd never heard "When Rita Leaves"--what a great song. I've just about worn out McClinton's COST OF LIVING cd--and a couple of the songs on that collection go nicely with "When Rita Leaves," especially "Down in Mexico" (my favorite from the cd) and "Kiss Her Once for Me." He writes some great sad songs about lost love--or love betrayed.

I also had not heard of Lala--so I will check that out.

It's a cloudy day in Chapel Hill. Sounds like it's much nicer weather in Oregon and Vermont today. Greetings to Carol, Dia, and Eric--as well as to Mark, Julie, and Kelly. I understand that Claire is back in the Midwest after her visit.

  3. And love, too, from Pete and Ann, who are about to leave for their drive to North Carolina, where we're looking forward to great visits with Fox and family and John and Doris.

What fun to think of checking the blogspot tomorrow from the Croasdaile computer!

Keep the music coming, Mark. We're all listening...

Sending hugs to you and Julie!

  4. Thanks everybody - glad you like the music!

FYI: the "sky lounge" image here is a picture from the bar that is featured in the movie "Lost in Translation" - the Tokyo Hyatt. It is one of my favorite movies, and the iconic image I have in my mind when I refer to my digs here as the "sky lounge"
